After finally finding immense success overseas, former Wildcat star Derrick Williams is on the move again, this time as he now travels to Spain.

We all thought he was going to be a star in the NBA and after a tremendous career at Arizona, was that really unbelievable for former Wildcat Derrick Williams? Well unfortunately, the NBA is super competitive, and after seeing just minimal success, he has since taken a rather unorthodox path overseas.

The former No. 2 pick first appeared in the NBA in 2011, and bounced around in the league, appearing on six different rosters until finally playing his last season with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2017-18 season.

Since then he has taken his talents overseas, and the change has been well worth it.

In 2018-19, Williams played for Bayern Munich in Germany, appearing in 29 games, averaging 13.4 points and 4.2 rebounds as he helped lead his squad to the League Championship!

This past year, Williams played for the talented Turkish team Fenerbahçe Beko, appearing in 28 games averaging 11.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

After two rather solid seasons overseas, the former Wildcat star is on the move again! Making news yesterday, it was announced that Williams had actually turned down a few NBA offers to instead play for the Spanish club team Valencia of Liga ACB, Spain’s top league!

The move is certainly great for him, especially as he has seen a bit more success overseas so far, and the contracts are still rather lucrative!

Either way, it’s great to see Derrick find success and we are certainly happy for him! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
