Just as we all had predicted, the Pac-12 has now officially cancelled all non-conference football games, which will delay the start of the season.

We all knew it was coming sooner or later, and as we had already stated previously, it’s that the Pac-12 would likely be following suit of the Big 10.

In case you missed it, it’s that the Big 10 announced yesterday that they would be cancelling all non-conference football games, with other conferences likely following suit.

Well, on Friday afternoon it finally became official as the Pac-12 finally announced that they too, would be cancelling their non-conference games.

Surely it’s not the solution we were hoping for, but with Covid not going away anytime soon, and the season technically just about 50 days away, the decision is likely the most reasonable.

By no means does this ensure that the Wildcats will indeed play September 12 when they are expected to take on Stanford, but the extra time could help buy time to help come up with a better solution.

The lack of non-conference games doesn’t also mean that Arizona will fill those open slots to play conference teams instead either.

Either way, these are unprecedented times, and there really isn’t sort of correct way in going about this other than doing our best to protect the student athletes.

If I’m being honest, I really think that season will actually be delayed until the Spring. Just having three extra weeks really isn’t going to buy enough time.

Either way, it’s going to be interesting to see how this all progress. As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
