Amid the chaos of the Corona Virus, not many are talking about Arizona Basketball, but given the circumstances what can we expect this year?

I know it’s been a crazy few months as the Corona Virus pandemic has wreaked havoc across the world. But here in our own little world of Tucson, Ariz., the Corona Virus has hit especially hard, wreaking havoc on Arizona Athletics, and more specifically Arizona Basketball.

With much being discussed in regards to Arizona Football and the Fall sports potentially being impacted significantly, much has been lost on Arizona Basketball.

Now granted, their season wouldn’t start until November, which is still technically four months away, so that may be plenty of time to figure out more solutions that work safely for the players and potentially the fans.

Nonetheless, there should at least be some concern and discussion around one of the schools’ other big money makers, the Basketball team.

As it stands, it seems like things may be on track for an on-time start to the 2020-21 season, however, it is worth mentioning that nothing is solidified as of yet, and as Bruce Pascoe wrote on Monday afternoon, the conference is still exploring all their options, which would even include potentially cancelling all non-conference games like football.

Additionally, it’s worth noting, that while the Pac-12 has approved all on-campus voluntary workouts, the University of Arizona still does not know or do they have a plan in bringing back their basketball players.

As you may recall, the school halted in bringing back any additional student athletes as they still try to combat the spread of the Corona Virus.

Arizona Director of Basketball operations Ryan Reynolds told the Arizona Daily Star, that “the team is hoping to have everyone on campus when the fall semester starts,” he said. “I’m sure it has to continue to slow down and get better before anything changes here locally.”

At Zona Zealots, I know we’re certainly hopeful that the Wildcats can return to action without any major hiccups moving forward. As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
