The Arizona Basketball season is far away, and there are still a lot of unknowns at this point, but no one should be overlooking the Wildcats!

For those reading, this serves as a warning, as this article may be dripping with severe homerism, especially as the point I’m about to make comes from a lifelong Arizona Basketball fan.

Now at this point, I know it’s a long ways until the 2020-21 Arizona Basketball season is prospectively going to start, but nonetheless, I feel it’s never too early to start looking ahead!

Well if you’ve been paying attention recently, it seems like there is some hype growing for the upcoming season, especially as UCLA and ASU have been getting a lot of attention, and perhaps rightfully so given the amount of talent they have returning.

For the Sun Devils, guards Alonzo Verge and Remy Martin recently announced that they will be foregoing the NBA Draft and will be returning to school, meanwhile the Bruins will have Chris Smith returning for his senior season as well.

So given the talent that is returning, it makes sense why both schools are seen as favorites early on. But that got me thinking, are people really overlooking Arizona?

Now look, I understand there is a lot that is unproven for the Wildcats at least at this point, and while you can call me crazy, I actually think Arizona is going to be a much better team than people think.

Top-to-bottom I like this roster. Post-wise, Jordan Brown has the hype coming in as the former Nevada big man, and I think he could certainly be a big surprise this year. Also, I really think Christian Koloko is going to take a major step this year, as he has been working hard this off-season.

Additionally, I like the guard depth Arizona will have! To me, this could be one of Arizona’s best back courts in quite some time, especially with a rotation of James Akinjo, Kerr Kriisa and Terrell Brown.

Aside from that, I do think the Wildcats have some great incoming players in Ben Mathurin, Dalen Terry and Azuolas Tubelis. Together, that core I think will be a very competitive group, and if they mesh well, could potentially be Pac-12 Title contenders as well!
