No Arizona Football? No problem, the Pac-12 has a solution!
With weeks to go until the prospective start of the 2020 Arizona Football season, it seems like the Pac-12 has a solution if no season happens this year.
We’ve been down this road for awhile now, and it seems like there is still much to talk about regarding the Covid crisis. For Arizona Football, we have certainly discussed at length the possibilities of a season not happening.
Heck, just today we outlined why we think that a season will likely not happen. So in light of recent events, this possibility is becoming more and more likely.

Now again I must stress that I would like there to be a football season, and certainly not at the expense of the health and well-being of our student athletes. However, my reasons for having a season would strictly be for the financial well-being of the Athletic Department.
I also understand that college sports is big business and there is a lot of money to be had. Money that student athletes feel they are entitled to, since they are the one making the profits for not only their schools, but in particular the NCAA.
Their case is becoming increasingly more valid as talks of a boycott increase, considering they [student athletes] are the ones putting themselves at risk during a pandemic.
As it stands, the school is roughly $7.5 million in the hole, directly as a result of Spring sports being cancelled due to Covid. For a school like Arizona, who’s profit margins are typically razor thin in a good year, now magnify what would happen if the 2020 football season got cancelled?
That’s why I’ve been such a staunch supporter of a football season happening!
So with the recent events of UCLA having multiple players test positive, UCONN cancelling football, and increasing talks of boycotts, it seems like we seem to know what will happen.
Well perhaps there will be some good news for us, just in case a season doesn’t happen. Jon Wilner broke the news yesterday that the Pac-12 will apparently roll out a massive loan program that will help bail out their member schools.
Finally a good decision by the Pac-12! It’s a wise move considering a lot of schools will be severely impacted financially, especially if there is indeed no football.
