If Pac-12 tested like Arizona Football, we’d have football in 2020

With schools postponing football until 2021, we would have a football season this year, if the Pac-12 had the same testing as Arizona Football.

I know there isn’t much to be optimistic about when discussing Arizona Football these days, especially as the 2020 season has now officially been postponed by the Pac-12 Conference.

Now granted, I know coming into the year there wasn’t much hope for the Wildcats having a successful season, especially as the program has gone just 9-15 since Kevin Sumlin has taken over.

Since Sumlin became the head coach of the Wildcats, this program has seen their fare share of transfers, minimal development of players, etc. Whatever the criticism, it’s a program that reeks of stink.

However, and despite all of that, I think we can all agree that we were still anxiously awaiting a football season. I mean, after all it has been five months since we’ve had any sort of Arizona Athletics sporting event, and we should have been past Covid by now. Alas, there has been failed execution practically everywhere.

Everywhere except at the University of Arizona however.

Despite some of the just criticisms of Arizona Football and their failures of recent, how they have handled the safety of their players as well as their response and preparation to a Covid world isn’t one of them.

Surprisingly, Sumlin and the Wildcats have done a tremendous job in taking this seriously and protecting their student-athletes, and no one should be shy in saying that.

Yes, we may have had yet another abysmal season, but if the Pac-12 and the rest of the member schools had taken proper measures, and offered the testing that Arizona is offering its student-athletes, then perhaps we would be preparing to have a 2020 Fall Season.

Now I understand it is not guaranteed that the Big-12, the SEC or the ACC have games this year, let alone a season, however, I do think Jason Scheer of Wildcat Authority has it right here.

At Zona Zealots, we are hoping we can return to normal as soon and safely as possible and will anxiously await until Arizona Football can return to the gridiron again! As always Bear Down, Arizona!
