Perhaps Arizona Basketball could start earlier than expected
With Covid having its impact on College Basketball as well, apparently, the Arizona Basketball team could maybe start earlier than expected.
With Fall Sports mostly being postponed everywhere up to this point, it’s shaping up to be a pretty awful Fall here in the Southwest. Especially with Arizona Basketball being delayed until 2021 potentially too! Well that is until recently!
Making news on Monday afternoon, we have all learned by now that the 2020-21 Basketball season could be on track as it normally.
Arizona Wildcats
For those that don’t know, the NCAA is now considering to have college basketball start soon! And that could be a good thing!
According to the NCAA, they are looking at potential start dates between November 10 (the original start date), and December 4. That of course includes that full practices would also be allowed to start at the typical 42-day mark before the first games even take place.
Now granted it’s worth noting that the Pac-12 still hasn’t lifted their Fall Sports postponement, so for us, this could decision could still be moot for us. Nonetheless, without having much positivity lately, it will be interesting to see how scenario all plays out, especially for the Pac-12 schools.
However, perhaps this is a sign of good things to come! If the rest of the schools begin playing, and the football seasons seem to go well without much of a hitch, you can’t help but think that the Pac-12 coaches wouldn’t sit idly bye, allowing their seasons to be squandered.
According to the Arizona Daily Star, the “NCAA basketball oversight committees for men’s and women’s basketball are scheduled to meet on Aug. 31, CBS said… aiming for a mid-September announcement on whether the season will start on time or be delayed.” As for now, we wait!
At Zona Zealots, we’re certainly hopeful that the Wildcats can start on-time, but nonetheless we will wait until the decision comes and see if that changes the Pac-12’s opinion. As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
