Another day, another transfer for the Arizona Football team, as the Wildcats seeing offensive lineman Donovan Laie enter the transfer portal.

To put it bluntly, it has been a terrible off-season for the Arizona Football team, and in case we needed worse news, it is that the Wildcats’ best offensive lineman Donovan Laie is transferring.

Laie broke the news via social media on Tuesday afternoon, and the news of his transfer hits pretty hard.

Already we have seen major transfers from; Colin Schooler, Brenden Schooler, Tony Fields II, Scottie Young, Jr., Troy Young, and Kylan Wilborn already, but this one may perhaps be the toughest for the Cats to overcome.

To me, Donovan is arguably Arizona’s best pro prospect, and given Arizona’s need for a strong offense this season, his departure will be greatly felt.

For the past couple of seasons, Donovan has been a staple along the Wildcats’ offensive line, and losing him is going to leave a sizeable hole.

Now before we get out the pitchforks and start blaming head coach Kevin Sumlin for the transfer, maybe pump the brakes on the criticism of this transfer.

While the reason for his transfer can only be speculated at this point, it is believed that Laie is leaving due to some personal things.

In case you hadn’t heard, Laie has had quite the eventful off-season, as the Wildcats’ star offensive lineman saw his sister and family go missing for a couple of days.

On top of that, he had still been adjusting to life in Tucson away from family and still dealing with the untimely passing of his father. Those are tough things for anyone to get over.

So while it is hard to speculate, again, Donovan has had to battle adversity and it would be hard to blame him if he is transferring to get closer to family.

The news is unfortunate, but things happen and all we can do is wish Donovan well moving forward! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
