With the Arizona Football program having seen their fair share of ups and downs, it is time to stop the gimmicks and just win.

OKG, Hard Edge, the 20-plus uniform combinations, etc.! Of all the gimmicks we have seen the Athletic Department and Arizona Football implement over the years to help market the program better, but have they really worked?

In short, no not really, and the results over the past two decades clearly show that.

Arizona Wildcats

Since 2000, Arizona has been a below-average program, compiling just a 112-135 record. During that stretch, the Wildcats have only gone to just eight Bowl Games, going just 4-4 in those games. Not what you call stellar results…

But how does Arizona get over the hump? Well, I don’t exactly know, and I am not a head coach, nor am I an Athletic Director, plagued with pulling a porous program out of the proverbial College Football slums.

However, I do think one thing that needs to change is the gimmicks. I get it, they are supposed to create a buzz and allow fans to connect or get excited about the program.

But to me, they are a distraction from what is happening. To me, it’s time for Arizona to get rid of them, as it feels like the school is trying to polish a turd, for a lack of a better phrase.

Fans want results, not fancy uniforms or catchy sayings.

Gone are the days where the Wildcats kept things simple, played tough, and were a respectable team. That was nearly 30 years ago, that we saw the best era of Arizona Football.

We can argue and debate as to how good we think this program should be, but one thing that should clear is that Arizona should be better than what it is right now.

Arizona needs to get rid of the gimmicks, go back to the style of football where they played with a chip on their shoulder and be the program teams dreaded to play.

Just get back to winning and forget the rest.
