With incoming transfer Bendu Yeaney eligible for this upcoming season, she will give Arizona Women’s Basketball an immediate boost.

It has been a great off-season for the Arizona Women’s Basketball team, and with the Wildcats bringing in and returning a lot of talent, how about a little more good news regarding the eligibility of incoming transfer, Bendu Yeaney.

In case you don’t remember, Bendu is the former Indiana guard that decided to transfer to Arizona just a few months ago, despite spending a little over two rather productive seasons in Bloomington, IN.

After appearing in 76 games with the Hoosiers, Bendu decided to come to transfer, after she still was recovering from a torn Achilles. Now she comes to Tucson with a lot of talent. However, the only issue with her transfer, was whether she would be eligible for the 2020-21 season, or not.

Well on Wednesday, it was announced that the former Indiana guard will indeed get to play this season, as the NCAA granted her a hardship waiver.

The move is huge news for Arizona, as it certainly makes for an even bigger off-season. Her presence will certainly help this season, as she will bolster an already deep and talented Wildcat roster.

Having Bendu eligible not only makes the Wildcats a threat to contend for a Pac-12 Championship, but with the talent they have returning, Arizona could maybe even be in store for more!

As we had stated before, Bendu appeared in 76 games, making 69 starts averaging  8.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. That kind of production and skill is going to bode well for the Wildcats moving forward.

Standing 5-feet-10-inches, Bendu is a lengthy guard that originally hails from St. Mary’s Academy in Portland, OR and will have two years to play.

She is a talented scorer, being able to score inside or outside, and she has great length that she can use to her advantage in getting rebounds. Make no mistake, this is a huge deal for Arizona!

As the Wildcats prepare for the season, Bendu has a message for the fans!
