With the Wildcats preparing for the 2020 Football season, Arizona quarterback Grant Gunnell feels disrespected by last place predictions.

The 2020 Arizona Football season is nearly here, and that comes with much ado from fans who feel a season is pointless or foolish to have. Well everyone except Arizona quarterback Grant Gunnell.

Already expectations are low heading into the season, as many publications and analysts are picking the Wildcats to likely finish with just one win. On top of that, some expect Arizona to finish in last place in the Pac-12 South.

Is that reasonable? Perhaps, especially when you consider how the last two years have transpired for the Wildcats. Also, the Wildcats have seen numerous transfers along the defensive side of the ball, so naturally, expectations are going to be high.

As for Gunnell, he doesn’t seem to appreciate the early predictions, and following Arizona’s first practice on Friday evening, he was rather vocal about his disagreement on the picks by analysts.

On being picked to finish last, Gunnell said “That’s a joke to me. I feel like we’re gonna shock some people.” Those are pretty strong words from Arizona’s quarterback.

Now while I’m sure some may not agree with Grant here, may I point out that, isn’t that the type of competitiveness you want to see from not only your quarterback but also your team?

There’s no question that things have not been good for the Wildcats the past couple of years, and aside from the porous coaching and development, it seems as if the Wildcats have had little fight.

Seeing your presumptive leader at one of the most visible in football be vocal and showing fight should be seen as a good thing, and hopefully, fans can see the same bit of optimism here as well.

Gunnell is the future of this program, and if the Wildcats are going to be a successful group, they may have to win some barnburner-type of games.
