Arizona Football: The Importance of LB Anthony Pandy
As the Arizona Football team prepares for the upcoming season, the Wildcats will rely heavily on senior linebacker, Anthony Pandy.
2020 is off to a rather unusual start, especially as Arizona Football has had to deal with a rather eventful off-season. From numerous transfers, to head coach Kevin Sumlin contracting Covid, luckily, one of the things the Wildcats that has gone right is the emergence of senior linebacker, Anthony Pandy.
The only returning starter out of the linebacker group from last season, it has been rather unfortunate off-season for Arizona as they have lost Colin Schooler, Tony Fields II, and Kylan Wilborn most notably to transfer.

However for Arizona, the show must go on, especially as we are just 25 days to go until the start of the 2020 Football season.
Even with the absences of Schooler, Wilborn and Fields II, at least we can find solace in the emergence of Pandy. Already just a few days into Training Camp, and it seems as though Arizona’s coaches have been praising their senior linebacker.
Really stepping up to the challenge that has been presented, Pandy has had to move around quite a bit in place of the absences at linebacker, and luckily Arizona was able to keep him even amid all the transfers.
Now a senior, Pandy has appeared in 27 games, totaling 100 tackles (74 solo), 10.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks and one interception. Not bad production, but you figure with him essentially being Arizona’s leading linebacker for 2020, he is poised to have a break out year.
And to me, if the Wildcats are going to improve as a group on defense, Arizona goes as far as the play of Pandy allows them.
Here is part of his interview, following the teams’ practice on Monday evening!
He has good size and athleticism, now it is time for him to step up when the team needs him to have a big year. I certainly believe he can and will do it! As always Bear Down, Arizona!
