Recruiting is never ending for Arizona Football, and with the 2021 class almost full, the Wildcats should turn its focus to 2022, and local WR Elijah Barclay.

Despite all the drama and the distractions going on with Arizona Football this off-season, the Wildcats have been fairly successful on the recruiting trail, filling up a solid class for 2021 so far. However, with their class mostly filled up at this point, their focus should now turn to 2022, and in particular local Wide Receiver, Elijah Barclay.

For those that don’t know who Elijah is, Arizona fans should learn quickly. Especially as he is a local player that is going to get more notoriety and attention over the next year or so, even as his recruitment continues to progress.

A former standout Wide Receiver from the supremely talented Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA, Elijah has since transitioned to Tucson, AZ and is quickly making a name for himself.

Playing at local Salpointe Catholic High School, roughly just 10 minutes from Arizona Stadium, he is already gaining attention in the 2022 recruiting class, and rightfully so.

Considered a three-star recruit in the class, Elijah already holds offers from Purdue, TCU and Illinois State. However, it is still early in his recruitment, and this is a kid that is ultimately going to get plenty more offers.

The only unfortunate thing so far, is that the Wildcats have yet to offer. But hopefully that all changes soon.

As we have learned over the years, it is that the Wildcats haven’t always done the best at recruiting local talent, and there have certainly been plenty of instances in which the Wildcats have missed on players, particularly at Salpointe High School. Elijah is a kid that could possibly change that.

Standing 6-feet-2-inches and over 160 pounds, he is kid that is going to grow, but already you can see that the potential is there. Through two games with the Lancers, Elijah has 11 receptions for 207 yards and four touchdowns.

He is a quick, athletic and heady kid with great play making ability, and he could be a solid addition for the Cats, should they decide to heavily recruit him. Hopefully for us, the Wildcats decide to recruit him.
