Arizona Basketball teams continue their hot streaks
For fans of Arizona Basketball, 2020 has been a good year so far, especially as both the Men’s and Women’s teams remain undefeated.
While it is early in the season, we have seen the excellence that Arizona Basketball fans are used to, especially as the Arizona Men’s basketball team has started off 5-0, and the Arizona Women’s Basketball team is also 4-0 and continues to climb the national rankings, now up to No. 6.
The Arizona Women’s Basketball team has looked amazing thus far –
Arizona Wildcats
Who would’ve thought two years ago that the Women’s team would be where they are today? They are 4-0 and these ladies continue to prove themselves from night-in and night-out, and it’s not just one player, it is the entire team.
But as usual, it starts with senior guard Aari McDonald, who has been scoring at will.
In the last two games, she’s scored 30 points against USC and 22 against in-state rival Arizona State. These stats should put her in the early discussions for the Player of the Year Award.
Head coach Adia Barnes should also be strongly considered for the Coach of the Year Award.
Let’s not forget about Arizona Men’s Basketball –
Some fans have credited a cupcake schedule to the early season success of the UofA’s Men’s basketball team, and while it is valid to look at a teams’ schedule, you also have to look at what the team is doing.
At 5-0, this team is one of the most balanced teams I have seen in my time watching Arizona Basketball.
Not the most talented, but most balanced. That scoring has started with impressive showing’s from redshirt junior guard Jemarl Baker, who in the last two games has shot 10-16 from three-point range. But all of Sean Miller’s guys have played extremely well this season, no doubt in large part due to Miller’s coaching.
Even though fans aren’t allowed to attend games , things are certainly buzzing at the McKale Center, and my colleagues and I at Zona Zealots couldn’t be prouder.
At Zona Zealots, we’re hoping both teams can find continued success! As always, Bear Down, Arizona! Lute would be proud.
