Ex-Arizona Basketball stars to follow professionally in 2020-21
Coaches:
Steve Kerr (Golden State Warriors) – Head Coach in his 6th year coaching the Warriors, he has accumulated the following accolades as a coach:
- 3× NBA champion (2015, 2017, 2018)
- NBA Coach of the Year (2016)
- 2× NBA All-Star Game head coach (2015, 2017)
Kerr lost some major players last season, including Andre’ Iguodala (free agency), and Klay Thompson to a season-ending injury. But he gained a new Wildcat in the draft in Nico Mannion.
Miles Simon and Quinton Crawford (Los Angeles Lakers) just celebrated their first NBA Championship with the Purple and Gold. The team has yet to have their parade, but Simon sure enjoyed his winning season last season. Now Miles has an NCAA ring and an NBA ring along with two Olympic gold medals.
Joseph Blair (Minnesota Timberwolves) enjoyed his brief stint as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers but recently signed to be an assistant coach with the Timberwolves. JB showed his joy on Instagram and he joins Rondae Hollis-Jefferson once again.
Luke Walton and Jesse Mermuys (Sacramento Kings) were hired in April 2019. Walton has a new GM. In his first season, he was without his new star Marvin Bagley, but after he returned the team performed better. It’s a hard road for Walton and Mermuys as the organization works to rebuild. Last season, the Kings were almost to 50/50 with 31 wins and 41 losses.
The team was able to re-sign De’Aaron Fox and brought in Hassan Whiteside to the team. But a huge gain for Walton was bringing on Alvin Gentry as an Associate coach (former Pelicans Head Coach) who should be able to make a difference. Let’s hope the Kings look better this season and Bagley, Fox, and Buddy Hield can pull out a winning season.
Isaiah Fox (Delaware Blue Coats – Philadelphia 76ers G-League team).
