Already two weeks on the job, and Arizona Football head coach Jedd Fisch is assembling a talented staff in Tucson, let’s hope it yields lots of wins!

It wasn’t a hiring process that was really welcomed or celebrated by Arizona Football fans, but after being on the job for two weeks now, head coach Jedd Fisch is building a solid staff in Tucson, and fans are starting to turn around.

If you have been paying attention, already a lot was built on the hiring’s of former Wildcats Chuck Cecil and Ricky Hunley, and rightfully so. Together their knowledge and experience should pay big dividends, and more importantly, the hiring’s ease some of the fans’ concerns as the school finally integrated alumni into their staff.

However, what shouldn’t be lost is the hiring process so far is the tremendous job coach Fisch is doing in bringing in a talented staff that has plenty of NFL and Collegiate experience.

To recap, Brennan Carroll (Seattle Seahawks) will be the Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach, Jimmie Dougherty (UCLA) will coach quarterbacks, Kevin Cummings (SJSU) will coach the Wide Receivers, Scottie Graham (ASU) will coach Running Backs, and Jordan Paopao (Washington) will coach the Tight Ends.

Defensively, it is still a work in progress, but Ricky Hunley will coach the Defensive Line, Chuck Cecil the Safeties, and now Dwayne Walker will reportedly coach the Corners and Nickels. All that is seemingly left is getting a Defensive Coordinator, a linebacker coach, and potentially a special teams’ coach.

On paper, the staff looks quite solid, and as previously mentioned, this group has a lot of NFL and College experience, and more importantly deep recruiting ties. Now hopefully, this just pays off.

So far what Fisch has done is tremendous, and it’ll be interesting to see how this group performs! At Zona Zealots, we will be watching and are excited about what’s brewing in Tucson. As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
