Arizona Football and Jedd Fisch reel in commit from Drake Anderson
Arizona Football head coach Jedd Fisch is on a roll already securing his second commitment with transfer Drake Anderson joining the Wildcats.
It has been a busy day for Arizona Football! Just hours after receiving a commitment from former Northwestern safety Gunner Maldonado, the Wildcats have received yet another transfer commitment on the day, this time it is Northwestern running back, Drake Anderson that will be heading to Tucson.
Making news via social media, the former Chandler High School standout announced that he is heading to Tucson, and interestingly enough, he will be joining former High School and College teammate, Gunner.
Arizona Wildcats
Originally a three-star recruit in the class of 2018, Drake was a lightly recruited running back that held offers from Northwestern, Illinois, New Mexico State, and Nevada coming out of high school, and after spending three fairly productive seasons in Evanston, IL, he will now come to Tucson with a great opportunity to play early on.
For those that don’t know, Drake appeared in 21 games for the Wildcats totaling 926 yards on 228 attempts and five touchdowns rushing. He also played in a very crowded backfield, so naturally, why not come closer to “home” and have more opportunities to shine.
As it stands, he will have a great opportunity to play early on. He will not only be immediately eligible, but he will compete with Michael Wiley, Frank Brown, Jalen John, Bam Smith (assuming he comes back), and true freshman, Stevie Rocker.
Drake is a versatile running back that is talented both as a runner and pass-catcher out of the backfield, and for Northwestern, he did a great job at getting north and south. He possesses good power and skill in between the tackles, and also has the speed to get to the outside!
Just look at was he was able to do at Chandler…
At Zona Zealots, we are excited about this addition and can’t wait to see what he can do in Tucson! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
