Just a couple of months into the 2020-21 Arizona Basketball season, head coach Sean Miller is making drastic changes to his starting line-up.

It wasn’t the best week for Arizona Basketball or Sean Miller last week, as the Wildcats were swept at home by the Los Angeles schools. In those losses, Arizona looked over-matched and outmanned.

Well, on Monday, the program was dealt an even more significant blow as we all learned that the Wildcats will be without redshirt junior, Jemarl Baker, Jr. for the rest of the year.

Certainly tough to overcome if you’re Arizona, however, in a year where the Wildcats won’t be playing the NCAA Tournament due to a self-imposed ban, consider ourselves fortunate.

With eyes on the future, now is the time to focus on development and build towards next year. It appears that with the recent line-up changes, Sean may feel the same way too.

Just as Arizona loses Baker, Miller announced that he will be changing things up to the starting line-up. Yes, it is partly out of necessity because of the injury to Baker, however, with the team losing to USC and UCLA, now would be a good time to change and get others valuable playing time and again build towards next year.

At least for the immediate future, this is what the Wildcats’ starting line-up will look like…

PG – James Akinjo
SG – Terrell Brown
SF – Ben Mathurin
PF – Azoulas Tubelis
C – Christian Koloko

Going to the bench are Jordan Brown and Dalen Terry. While drastic, this is a move that I’m sure will be welcomed by fans, especially with the recent emergence of Mathurin and Tubelis.

Outside of that, Christian has played well as of late, and Brown has been a bit inconsistent, to say the least. There’s no harm in making those changes now, and who knows, perhaps this leads to a spark the team needs.

At Zona Zealots, we are curious to see what these roster changes bring and hope the team can step-up and respond! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
