Looking to snap a 10 game losing streak to the Oregon Ducks the Arizona Women’s Basketball team got the 57-41 victory, in arguably their most impressive victory of the season.

The Arizona Wildcats Women’s Basketball team has been looking for their first quality win of the season since beating UCLA back in early December and that is exactly what they did against the University of Oregon on Thursday.

There are so many positives to take away from the Wildcats’ impressive 57-41 win, but here are the major takeaways from their victory.

Aari McDonald finally gets a W against the Ducks.

It’s obvious Aari McDonald has had plenty of accomplishments during her time as an Arizona Wildcat, but one accomplishment she has not been able to achieve is beating the Oregon Ducks. On Thursday, that all changed when she led the Wildcats to an impressive victory over the No. 10 Ducks (their second victory over a Top 10 team).

McDonald led all scorers with 16 points and on a night when the Wildcats forced 23 Oregon turnovers, McDonald was responsible for four of them.

As mentioned, the Arizona defense was Bearing Down all night.

The University of Oregon Women’s Basketball team entered the McKale Center averaging just over 83 points per game, good for second in the Pac-12, but that changed against the Wildcats. As mentioned above, the Cats forced 23 turnovers, but that’s just part of what was an impressive defensive performance.

In addition to the turnovers, the Wildcats held the high-powered Oregon offense to 32 percent shooting, and four out of five starters had at least one steal. That is extremely impressive if you ask me. Not to mention the fact that they held Oregon to half of their scoring average.

While they were less than spectacular offensively, this was a performance the Wildcats desperately needed. Hopefully, it is something they can build on as the season progresses. As always, Bear Down Arizona!
