It is a good day for the Pac-12 and Arizona Athletics as has been announced that the Conference will part ways with current Commissioner Larry Scott!

It is a historic day in the World of College Athletics and in particular the Pac-12 as it has been announced that the Conference will be parting ways with current Commissioner Larry Scott starting June 30.

The news broke via Social Media on Wednesday evening, and all I can say is, it is about damn time, as this is a decision that has been long overdue in my opinion.

At Zona Zealots, we have been particularly critical of Scott these past couple of years, and I know we are not the only ones that share this sentiment either.

From the bloated salary, the private flights, the astronomical rent and operational costs in the luxurious and expensive San Francisco downtown, etc. there have been so many things abhorrently wrong with the leadership in the Pac-12.

Finally, something is being done about it. Come June 30, Larry will be out of a job, as the Conference announced that they will not renew his contract.

Since taking over the Pac-12, Scott has made an astronomical $40 million according to Yahoo Sports Reporter, Pete Thamel.

With the change soon coming, hopefully, the Conference can find someone new who will not only improve the revenue share for its member schools and be cheaper but more importantly begin restoring their image and brand of a once premier Conference, as well as improve their exposure.

Whoever will take over will have a tough challenge ahead, however, whoever is hired cannot be worse than having Scott lead.

Here’s to hoping that the Pac-12 is able to find the right individual and begin making the Pac-12 a respected Conference once again. As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
