Arizona Football adds in-state LB, Ammon Allen for 2021
Arizona Football head coach Jedd Fisch keeps the hot recruiting streak going as he now adds in-state linebacker, Ammon Allen, for the class of 2021.
Another day, another commitment for the Arizona Football team as the Wildcats and Jedd Fisch have added 2021 in-state linebacker, Ammon Allen.
Making his announcement via social media, the standout three-star linebacker from Gilbert Highland High School from just up the road, becomes the 19th commitment in the class.
Arizona Wildcats
With offers from the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, New Mexico State, and Eastern Michigan among others, Ammon is a bit of an underrated athlete that Chuck Cecil and Defensive Coordinator Don Brown felt was worthy of bringing into the fold.
Standing a sturdy, 6-feet-2-inches and 202 pounds, Ammon is the talented kid that seems to have done it all with Gilbert Highland. Having played quarterback, safety, and linebacker, Ammon likely projects as an outside linebacker for the Wildcats, and he possesses ideal size for the position too.
With Arizona’s glaring needs at linebacker and 2021 linebacker KC Ossai de-committing just days ago, getting another linebacker was ideal for the Wildcats. Plus, given his experience and versatility, the Wildcats could also use him much like Kolbe Cage, a hybrid safety-linebacker combo.
By adding Allen, Arizona’s depth begins to look a lot better, especially as the news comes on the heels of Arizona adding Western Michigan linebacker transfer, Tre Hayward as well.
Coming in, Ammon will have a great opportunity to play early, however, I could still very well see 2021 being a redshirt year for him too.
He possesses solid size, and overall I love his playmaking ability and athleticism. Lining up mostly at safety and some at linebacker, he is an aggressive kid that sees the ball well, has great instincts, reacts and attacks.
Ammon possesses great eye discipline, never seemingly getting fooled on misdirection plays and he takes great angles to put himself in a position to make the play. He also finishes well, showing good tackling form, and packs some nice power to his hits as well.
Just see for yourself!
At Zona Zealots, we’re excited for the addition of Ammon and can’t wait to see what he can do in Tucson! As always, Bear Down, Arizona!
