National Signing Day came and went for Arizona Football and for Tyler, TX area cornerback Jakelyn Morgan, there was never any doubt.

It wasn’t the most eventful day for Arizona Football on Wednesday as the Wildcats signed just three commits for 2021. One of those commits was Tyler Legacy cornerback, Jakelyn Morgan.

After committing to Arizona and the previous coaching staff back in August of 2020, naturally, Morgan didn’t want to sign during the early signing period in December, waiting to see the rest of the staff announced.

For Arizona, that meant over the next few months, the Wildcats were going to have to put in work to keep Jakelyn. And with offers from UNLV, Hawaii, and New Mexico among numerous others, there were still plenty of options and suitors trying to snag him from Arizona.

Luckily for us, there was never a doubt for Jakelyn Morgan to join Arizona Football

Officially signing with Arizona on Wednesday, Jakelyn joins his fellow commits for 2021 and is arguably one of the Wildcats’ most underrated recruits.

Rated as a three-star corner from the talent-rich state of Texas, Jakelyn is considered to be the No. 2,304 overall recruit in the class and the No. 350 overall player in Texas according to 247Sports.

On paper, those rankings don’t necessarily jump out at you. Compared to some of Arizona’s other signings for 2021, Jakelyn certainly pales in comparison. However, as we’ve learned with recruiting, not everything is what it seems.

Standing 6-feet-1-inch and 175 pounds, Jakelyn has great length and size that should benefit the Wildcats.

Joining Don Brown’s aggressive, man-to-man defense, Jakelyn doesn’t shy from contact. He does a great job at jamming opposing receivers at the line. He possesses very fluid and flexible hips, being able to drop back into coverage.

He uses his body and length well, shows great eye discipline when reading the play, and does well in reacting and attacking the football. Overall, I feel he is a really solid corner with good instincts and playmaking ability!

The Wildcats are getting a good one!
