With the Arizona Football team still settling their roster ahead of the 2021 season, do the Wildcats have room for one more quarterback?

In case you haven’t been paying attention, it has been a rather busy and successful off-season for head coach Jedd Fisch and Arizona Football.

Coming in, the newly hired head coach was going to have a lot of work ahead of him as he desperately needed to bring in talent and depth.

So far, he has done a tremendous job in retooling and rebuilding this roster, all the while, upgrading a few key positions. One of those positions being at quarterback.

Following the dreadful, 0-5 abbreviated college football season, the Wildcats lost quarterback Grant Gunnell due to transfer. So naturally, Fisch went out and got Jordan McCloud (transfer from USF), Gunner Cruz (transfer from Wazzu), and multiple talented walk-on’s, in addition to retaining Kevin Doyle and Will Plummer.

Certainly, a huge turnaround when you truly analyze it, but based on recent events, it sounds like the Wildcats may not be done either.

Making news via Social Media on Wednesday afternoon, Wildcat Country announced that there is apparently mutual interest between former Oregon quarterback Tyler Shough and Arizona.

A previous starter and standout for the Ducks, Shough announced that he would be transferring from the program just days ago, and given that he was once a standout quarterback at Chandler Hamilton High School from just up the road, this recruitment makes a lot of sense.

Tyler was a four-star quarterback coming out of high school in 2018, with offers from just about all the major programs. In 2021, I would expect to likely be the case again.

He stands an impressive 6-feet-5-inches and 220 pounds with plenty of college experience to offer as well. With the Ducks, Tyler appeared in 11 games, throwing for 1,703 yards on 118/182 passing with 16 touchdowns to just six interceptions. He has shown he can also get it done with his legs, running for 282 yards and two touchdowns on 68 carries.

Now, we will see if Arizona truly pursues Tyler here, or even if the team has the room for him. Right now, the Wildcats look pretty full at quarterback, however, there are not many players out there like Tyler.

He would bring immediate depth and talent, and would significantly upgrade the position. I mean just look at what he was able to do with the Ducks…
