With former Wildcat Deandre Ayton finding his niche in the NBA, the Suns’ big man is now needing to find his niche as a father.

Since leaving the University of Arizona, former Wildcat Deandre Ayton has been staying busy. Whether it is trying to find success in the NBA and live up to the No. 1 overall draft pick, or finding his role with the Suns, Ayton has been preoccupied.

However, as we all found out on Wednesday afternoon, it is that our lovable and animated former Wildcat will now have to find his niche in being a father.

In his press conference with the media, Deandre Ayton revealed how he is adjusting to being a new father to his newborn son, Deandre Ayton, Jr.

“Just trying to figure out the schedule” is his biggest challenge so far he says. “Waking up at 3 a.m. and going back to sleep for another two hours, just getting the hang of that, but I have a team at home that really helps me out with that. My girl holds it down for me and make sure I get enough rest for these games.”

Just a young, 22-years old, Ayton is still adjusting to his life after Arizona, and that means continuing to adjust his game with the Suns as well.

Currently sitting in second place in the NBA’s Western Conference at 26-12 on the season, the third-year NBA veteran is currently averaging 14.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game in 38 games and is coming off a 15-point, nine-rebound effort in Monday’s 122-99 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

While his production is down compared to his previous two seasons in Phoenix, Ayton is still adjusting to playing alongside newly acquired NBA veterans Chris Paul and Jae Crowder among others.

Moving forward, he is still going to be heavily relied upon with the Suns, and his continued development is going to be crucial to the teams’ success.
