Arizona Athletics desperately needs stability and leadership
Already a month into the Arizona Basketball drama-filled off-season and it is becoming apparent that Arizona Athletics desperately needs stability and leadership.
In case you are sick of the ongoing drama surrounding Arizona Basketball, don’t worry, we are too, and the ineptitude and current instability is leaving fans longing for leadership.
So far we’ve seen there supposedly be a rift between the current Basketball staff, the Athletic Department (plus Dr. Robert Robbins), and some of the Top Boosters.

With Sean Miller entering the final year of his contract and the impending IARP findings coming likely within the next year, it seems like no one knows what is going to happen, and sadly, that includes Miller.
As of right now, it seems like Robbins (who shouldn’t be involved in this process) is leaning towards letting Miller go and hiring someone else, a move that would not be well-received among some of the departments’ top boosters.
Meanwhile, a good portion of fans (including myself) are wanting to see Miller extended since he has been greatly hampered by the ongoing investigation that has lasted three-to-four years, and with time, can likely guide this program out of this mess.
Heck, look what he did this year with an entirely new roster, multiple injuries, and suspensions against a surprisingly decent Pac-12. (At the time of writing this, the conference is 6-0 in the NCAA Tournament).
However, there is also the possibility (albeit stupid), that Robbins… I mean Arizona, could let Miller enter the final year of his contract with no extension in place. That option would the worst available since that move would effectively kill recruiting for 2022.
Through all this mess, just as we have seen other schools terminate and hire coaches, it left us Arizona fans longing for stability and leadership.
Whether the school decides to move on from Miller or not, Robbins has no business interjecting himself into the coaching search, and he certainly has no business in using an Athletic Director, paying him hundreds, of thousands of dollars, only to commandeer the entire athletic department.
This whole situation is being played out like a bad airing of the Jerry Spring Show, and the Arizona Athletic Department is the laughing stock, taking center stage.
With Dr. Robbins and Arizona embroiled in a standoff of sorts that no one wanted to see, it is time for these people to start bringing leadership and stability because right now, no one should trust what this department does, one way or the other.
