Since joining, Arizona Football Head Coach Jedd Fisch is focusing on the small details and already it is paying off for the Wildcats.

Attention to detail has to be a pillar of success for Head Coach Jedd Fisch and his coaching staff as they try to turn around the Arizona Football program. While most new coaches would focus on recruits, player transfers, depth charts, records, etc. there is a lot more to what Coach Fisch is doing down in Tucson that doesn’t necessarily gain the headlines in the morning paper.

As Arizona football fans, we all have seen the early success that Coach Fisch has had thus far by bringing back Arizona Alumni, hitting the transfer portal hard, and even bringing local Arizona High School football players to play for the red and blue.

However, this is all very surface level to what Coach Fisch is trying to do and accomplish, all in hopes of changing the culture of a program that is in desperate need of success.

First off, he has made coaches and players very accessible to the media, a stark contrast from the previous two coaching staffs. Why is this important? It is the first step to creating bond between the Arizona Football program and its fans both locally and nationally.

Arizona is welcoming people outside the program with open arms, after being locked out and turned away for so many years.

Secondly, Coach Fisch was one of the first to allow fans to attend their practices and the upcoming Spring game (albeit limited) during the ongoing pandemic. This shows that he values the fans and what they bring to the program.

Coach Fisch wants the fans to be apart of and feel connected to the program just as much as any player or coach. Arizona Football needs support now more than ever, so making the program more like a family is huge.

Finally, Coach is very well aware of other programs on campus and their success that they are having during the season or post-season. The football program has been very vocal in cheering the Women’s Basketball team on, especially as the Wildcats took to the Pac-12 Tournament.

It was reinforced again the other day too as Coach Fisch announced to the media that he was moving practice up an hour on Saturday during his press conference so he could catch the Women’s basketball game against No. 2 Texas A&M in the NCAA Tournament. This kind of school spirit is contagious and will spread rapidly throughout campus.

Next. ZZ: More Arizona Football. dark

We often hear programs be ranked when it comes to being “Fan Friendly” which is a key component when it comes to creating positive energy around the program, an energy that attracts athletes, coaches, and fans to any program. For Arizona Football and Jedd Fisch, they are well on their way to becoming that program. It might not be the finish line but we are a long way from where we were just a few months ago. As always, Bear Down and Go Cats!
