After spending just one season in Tucson in which Daniel Batcho did not play in a single game, the French big man will be transferring from Arizona Basketball.

Well, it wasn’t quite how we hoped it would pan out, but after all the anticipation with the addition of French big man Daniel Batcho last year, the Arizona Basketball center is moving on from the program.

The news of Daniel’s transfer was announced via social media on Monday afternoon, and as Batcho leaves the Wildcats, his departure only highlights his mysteriousness and mystique.

As you may recall, Daniel came to Tucson last year, joining the program with plenty of hype. He was considered to be one of the better eligible players out of Europe, and there was some potential there.

However, as we all saw, it wasn’t long after coming to Tucson that Daniel would suffer an injury that would pretty much derail his entire freshman season. Daniel would have the possibility to return at the beginning of February, but then head coach Sean Miller decided to shut his season down, citing that he missed too much time to jump in and competitively play.

As Daniel Batcho leaves, he has options to either go to another school or even possibly go back to Europe and play professionally.

Unfortunately, with the departure of Daniel, his absence only adds to the mystique from fans of what could have been. He also becomes yet another Wildcat moving on from the program.

As it currently stands, Jemarl Baker is transferring to Fresno State, Ira Lee is heading to George Washington, and James Akinjo is still testing the NBA Draft waters.

With Arizona Basketball still without a coach, things could get even more complicated, should Arizona Athletics slow play this coaching search.

Either way, we would like to wish Daniel the best as he moves on and hope he finds success wherever he goes!
