First job for Tommy Lloyd will be re-recruiting the current roster
As Tommy Lloyd becomes the new head coach for the Arizona Basketball program, his first job will be re-recruiting the Wildcats’ current roster.
Well, the search is over folks, Arizona Basketball has its new head coach, and it is long-time Gonzaga assistant Tommy Lloyd.
After a rather successful 12-year run by the Wildcats, Lloyd will be replacing Sean Miller and we will finally be ushering in a new era of Arizona Basketball.

Already, the job ahead is going to be a tough one for him. For starters, Lloyd will have to learn how to be a head coach after spending 20 seasons in Spokane as an assistant for Gonzaga. Also, he will be filling big shoes after Miller won over 300 games, five conference championships, five Sweet 16 appearances, and three Elite Eights.
However, perhaps the biggest challenge ahead for Tommy Lloyd will be to re-recruit the current Arizona Basketball roster.
As everyone knows by now, it is that Miller likely had a Top 15-20 team for next year with a large contingency of their roster from the year before returning. However, the move to suddenly fire Miller, has made things a bit uncertain for the program moving forward.
Outside of trying to stabilize things and prepare for the impending sanctions from the Independent Accountability Resolution Process (IARP), Lloyd will also have to make quick work in stabilizing this roster and trying his best to retain the current roster.
Coming in, he will have a building project on his hands, however, he can help expedite things if he can keep the large contingency of talent together.
Luckily for us, Lloyd is perceived to be an excellent recruiter, especially at the international level, so there could be some immediate success there, however, time will only tell. Either way, he must hit the recruiting trail hard, and it starts with re-recruiting the current roster.
