Continuing to make progress since joining Arizona Basketball, head coach Tommy Lloyd will also retain Wildcat legend Jason Terry on the staff.

It has been a very successful week for Tommy Lloyd, especially when you consider all that he’s accomplished as the Arizona Basketball head coach thus far. On the heels of keeping Kerr Kriisa on the roster, it was also announced that Jason Terry will be retained as an assistant coach.

Making news via social media, the Wildcats announced Terry’s retention on the basketball staff, and the move to keep him on staff is a big one for the Wildcats.

After parting ways with Sean Miller, we all knew that the Wildcats were going to go through several changes, and finding stability was going to be important moving forward. Well, luckily for us it seems the Wildcats may have a little stability after all as they head into 2021-22.

When Lloyd was introduced as the new head coach of the Wildcats, he emphasized that he wanted the program to have an ‘Arizona flavor’, well, by retaining Terry and Coach Jack Murphy, it seems he is staying true to his word.

Keeping Jason Terry on staff is going to prove to be beneficial for Arizona Basketball

Following the hiring of Lloyd, there were a few disgruntled alumni, unhappy with how the process played out. Now, while they may still have some issues with how Arizona handled the hiring of Lloyd, perhaps the move to keep Terry may settle and calm some of those grievances.

However, beyond the politics of it all, this is a great move for Lloyd. Terry is a viable asset as an assistant coach since he has plenty of playing experience (college and professionally), but also he is highly regarded and well-connected in the Pacific Northwest, so having him makes sense on so many levels. Plus, how could you not love seeing Terry being involved with Arizona Basketball?
