LEXINGTON, KY – Following a thrilling victory over No. 15 Kentucky, Arizona Men’s Tennis (21-7) advances to the Sweet 16 for the first time.
It is always a great time to be a Wildcat, especially right now as we continue to follow the success of the Arizona Men’s Tennis team.
In the midst of one of the best seasons in program history, and the Wildcats returned to action in the NCAA Tournament, just days after learning their fate.

Coming in, we know the road was going to be daunting, however, when the going gets tough, the tough Bear Down.
Already, Arizona is off to a great start knocking off Michigan to begin conference play. Well, on Saturday, Arizona returned to action again, this time against No. 15 Kentucky.
Arizona began the match with a strong showing, scoring a point and pulling a major upset when Carlos Hassey and Alejandro Reguant won in doubles play to clinch a point and give the Cats an early lead.
The momentum only seemed to carry over from there. Following a brilliant performance in doubles, Hassey also came up big in singles play, as the Wildcat helped to deliver another point for the Wildcats, as he defeated Kentucky’s Alexandre Leblanc 6-3 and 6-4.
Then Arizona’s Jonas Ziverts and Herman Hoeyeraal would team up in doubles play as well, where they also came away with a major victory, winning 6-4. But Arizona wasn’t done yet.
Turning to their singles matchups, the Wildcats completed their miraculous run on the day as Ziverts and Hoeyeraal came away victorious again, helping to deliver the win over Kentucky and advancing in the NCAA Tournament.
With the Arizona Men’s Tennis team advancing to the third round in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history, the road for the Wildcats will get even more challenging as they await the winner of Tennessee and Memphis.
