Arizona Women’s Basketball is on a roll, continuing their white-hot off-season, now picking up a commitment from 2022 five-star forward, Maya Nnaji.

Not many teams have had a better year than Arizona Women’s Basketball has, as the Wildcats are still winning even off the court. And on Monday morning, Arizona continued their off-season success having now secured a commitment from 2022 five-star forward Maya Nnaji.

Announcing her decision via social media, Maya officially committed to the Wildcats on Monday morning, and her addition continues to highlight the recruiting terror Arizona has been on.

Now, for those wondering whether she is related to the former Wildcat basketball star, Zeke Nnaji, yes she is, Maya is the younger sister to Zeke, and she is just as stellar in her own right.

Considered to be one of the best players in the country for her class, Maya currently ranks as the No. 7 player overall for 2022 and the No. 3 overall player for her position according to ESPN.

A star at Hopkins High School in Hopkins, MN, Maya is a stellar interior player with a solid game and lots of potential. She stands a towering 6-feet-4-inches and gives the Cats more talent in the post for 2022 and beyond.

What is Arizona Women’s Basketball getting with the addition of Maya Nnaji?

According to ESPN, she is a “Skilled interior performer that delivers efficiently in the paint.

  • Has good interior footwork.
  • Utilizes either hand to finish in traffic.
  • Has an emerging face-up game.
  • Is a defensive intimidator.
  • Alters shots.
  • Initiates the fast break and is mobile in transition.
  • Is an impact prospect.

This past year, we saw that the Wildcats lacked size against some of the bigger teams, and in the championship game against, the size difference may have had an impact on the result of that game.

This off-season, it was imperative Arizona added a bit more size and depth in the frontcourt, and with the addition of Maya, there aren’t many better.
