With five-star Point Guard TyTy Washington committing to Kentucky, that leaves Tommy Lloyd and Arizona Basketball still in need of a point guard.

It has been a rather busy and productive past couple of weeks on the recruiting trail for newly hired Arizona Basketball head coach Tommy Lloyd. However, as we should all know by now, it is that you can’t win every recruiting battle, as highly touted five-star guard TyTy Washington committed to Kentucky over Arizona on Wednesday evening.

While the move is unfortunate, especially with TyTy being so close to Arizona’s campus, however, the commitment to Kentucky shouldn’t be so surprising. As you have seen, in recent days/weeks, Kentucky was trending for the Arizona point guard, and it seemed all but inevitable that he was headed for Lexington.

So now with TyTy Washington officially off the board, Tommy Lloyd and Arizona Basketball are left with only but a few options at point guard. How do the Wildcats proceed?

Well, luckily for us, there is still plenty of time until the start of the 2021-22 season, so now isn’t necessarily the time to panic. However, there’s no doubt Arizona is still in need of answers at point guard.

As it stands, Kerr Kriisa seems to be the presumptive point guard for Arizona next season. And while he may not necessarily be the best option, I do think the Wildcats could do a lot worse. So overall, he could be serviceable should Arizona not find another point guard.

There is also recent Arizona commit Adama Bal. A long and athletic guard from France, Bal is surely a talent, however, he may be more of a combo guard than a true point guard.

Outside of Kriisa and Bal, there is still Aaron Cook who still sits in the transfer portal from Gonzaga, and there could also be a player or two that pops up in the transfer portal or overseas.

Either way, we just have to be patient and see how things play out for Arizona.
