Arizona Softball ups fans capacity to 100% ahead of Regionals
The NCAA Tournament is here again and with the school allowing some fans already, Arizona Softball will allow 100 percent capacity for the Regionals.
It has been a long year of Arizona Wildcat action, especially as most Arizona teams have been without fans. However, over the past few weeks/month, things have been slowly returning to normal, especially for Arizona Softball.
As you may have seen already, the school approved 30 percent capacity at Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium a few weeks ago, and just days ago they increased fan capacity to 50 percent. Well now, it is increasing again.

Making news on Wednesday afternoon, the school announced that it is increasing fan capacity to 100 percent, just ahead of the Tucson Regional in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It is the first time Hillenbrand will allow 100 percent capacity since the Covid pandemic first started.
Arizona typically has great turnout at their games, since Arizona Softball is such a big part of the community here. And with the Wildcats facing a tough road ahead, any advantage would certainly be welcomed, especially if it means having more fans in the stands.
As it stands, Regional play is set to begin on Friday, and it will run through Sunday. The Wildcats enter the tournament as the No. 11 overall seed and will play against UMBC on Friday with the first pitch set for 5:30 PM. Should the Wildcats win, they will face the winner of Ole Miss and Villanova on Saturday.
According to the school, “Sunday’s regional final will begin at 5 p.m. with the if-necessary seventh game to begin at 7:30 p.m. MST.”
Arizona is looking to return its dominant postseason form since the Wildcats were unable to play in the Tournament last year due to Covid.
The Wildcats enter the Tournament with a series split against then No. 12 Oregon, and a devastating series loss to No. 2 UCLA last weekend.
