The 2021 Arizona Football season is nearly here, and with the season action ramping up, Draft Kings came out with their predictions, picking Arizona to have 2.5 wins.

It has already been five months that Arizona Football head coach Jedd Fisch has been on the job here in Tucson, and thus far he has had the daunting task of turning around this program. From repairing the culture to improving the talent and depth, he has done a tremendous job thus far.

However, as good as an off-season as Fisch has had, ultimately what matters most is putting together wins and while that is yet to be determined, there is still a long way to go for this group if they hope to get back into the top half of the conference.

Naturally, with the 2021 season still over three months out, that’s why many are still predicting the Wildcats to finish last or near the bottom in the Pac-12. It is all understandable considering the program has won just nine games in three years and is also coming off a winless, Covid-riddled 2020 season.

So with predictions coming out regarding the 2021 season, Arizona Football is predicted to win just 2.5 games according to Draft Kings.

The news of the prediction came out on Tuesday afternoon, and it perhaps highlights the amount of work that still needs to be done in Tucson.

Now is it a fair prediction? Sure, especially when you consider all the things that have transpired in the past couple of years. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean I agree with it either.

Look, I am not saying I think Arizona wins six or more games and goes to a bowl game. No, but I still contend that this team has some decent talent to at least compete with most of the teams in the Pac-12 that are not named USC, Oregon, or Washington.

The results of the last couple of years are far more indicative of the poor culture, rather than it being a lack of talent. Remember, this was still largely the same group that won seven games under Rich Rodriguez a few years prior.

Now while I do think Arizona still needs to see vast improvements on the recruiting trail, I also feel this team will ultimately be better than some people expect. Either way, it will be interesting to see how this season plays out.
