Arizona Baseball wins the Pac-12 Title outright
With the 2021 season winding down for Arizona Baseball (39-15, 21-9), the Wildcats are now the outright Pac-12 Champions with Oregon losing to Cal.
The Pac-12 season may officially be over, but for Arizona Baseball, the baseball action doesn’t stop. On Saturday evening, the Wildcats will take to the field one last time at Hi-Corbett to close out the regular season against Dixie State in a three-game series.
However, as the Wildcats enter the final game of the regular season, not only will they be looking for the series win against the Trailblazers, but they also enter the regular series finale as the outright Pac-12 Champions.
Arizona Wildcats
As you may recall, Arizona wrapped up a terrific Pac-12 season last weekend by knocking off Conference powerhouse Oregon State in Corvallis, OR for the first time since 2012. That series victory at least ensured a share of the Conference Title.
Well, as fate would have it, as Arizona fell to Dixie State last night in an 11-9 barnburner, just over 800 miles away, Cal knocked off No. 10 Oregon to help deliver the outright Pac-12 Championship to the Wildcats.
So with Arizona Baseball on pace for one of their best finishes to the regular season since 2012, the work doesn’t stop.
Arizona entered the final series of the regular season with a matchup against Dixie State looming, and the focus now is all about improving their regular season standing, strengthening their resume, and getting ready for the NCAA Tournament.
The Wildcats opened the weekend series by knocking off the Trailblazers in game one, winning 4-2, but followed that up with a game two loss in which the Wildcats’ potent offense was outpaced 11-9.
In game three, the Wildcats will look to rebound and come away with the series victory and earn win No. 40 for the first time since head coach first joined the Wildcats back in 2016 when Arizona won 49 games.
