Continuing their busy off-season, the Arizona Basketball team has added another piece to the roster, this time it is So Cal walk-on guard, Addison Arnold.

It has been a busy couple of months for newly hired head coach Tommy Lloyd as the former Gonzaga assistant has taken over Arizona Basketball, has put in work to settle the roster. His most recent addition is So Cal walk-on guard, Addison Arnold.

Making news via social media on Monday evening, the former standout guard from Royal High School guard in Simi Valley, CA committed to the Wildcats after visiting coach Lloyd and Arizona’s campus on Monday afternoon.

Coming in as a walk-on, Addison stands 6-feet-3-inches, and is an intriguing athlete. He comes in as a bit of an under-the-radar type of player, and given his unique background, he might be some that could surprise and develop late.

For those that don’t know, Addison is a player that likely didn’t get the proper exposure he deserves since he had to go through reconstructive surgery on both ankles in high school. An injury that nearly ended his basketball career.

Addison finally returned to action last year, however, as we all saw, the Covid pandemic interrupted a lot of athletes and their sports seasons. So despite the challenges he faced, he was still impressive, finishing the season averaging 22.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game.

Luckily for us, Addison Arnold will play for Arizona Basketball, despite him also drawing interest from ASU, BYU, UC Santa Barbara, and Hawaii according to the Arizona Daily Star.

While it is hard to say just what kind of impact Addison will have with the Wildcats, he seems like a kid that is worth taking a risk on. He is a bit of a late developer, plus, keep in mind he didn’t get adequate exposure because of the injury and the pandemic.

The other interesting thing of note is that Addison comes from a Mormon family and will likely serve a two-year mission at some point, which means more time with the Wildcats and more time developing.

Here is a little preview of what the Wildcats are getting with Addison!
