With Arizona Baseball about to play in the programs’ 18th College World Series, it was always destiny for Wildcat outfield Tyler Casagrande to be here.

It has been nine years since Arizona Baseball last won their National Championship at the College World Series, but for current Wildcat outfielder Tyler Casagrande, he remembers it vividly.

Then just a young kid with the hope and vision of one-day playing college baseball, the native of Leesburg, VA got to witness the 2012 Tournament in Omaha, where the Wildcats knocked off two-time defending champion, South Carolina.

From that point on, he knew he would be destined to play baseball at the University of Arizona, and wouldn’t be going back to Omaha unless it was with the Wildcats.

Now a sophomore, Arizona Baseball’s Tyler Casagrande is fulfilling his destiny of returning to Omaha.

The story was initially reported by baseball writer Mark Wrighte and was later confirmed by Tyler to be true. With the College World Series baseball action starting in just a couple of days, the story draws a lot of parallels and brings an interesting storyline to follow in Omaha.

Already, this Wildcat baseball team is drawing a lot of similarities to that 2012 Championship team like, beating Oregon State in Corvallis for the first time since 2012, as well as finishing 1st in the Conference.

As for Tyler, he will be ready. The former Riverside High School standout is having a solid year as he helps to contribute to one of the best and most potent offenses in College Baseball.

In 36 at-bats, Tyler is batting a respectable .278 from the dish with 10 hits including one home run and seven RBI’s. Defensively, he’s just as solid, sporting a 1.000 fielding percentage while accounting for 16 put-outs for the Wildcats.

Tyler and the Wildcats will look to continue their magical season as they first square off with the 2019 defending National Champions in Vanderbilt late on Saturday afternoon.
