With Arizona Basketball ramping up for the 2021-22 season, the Wildcats will likely be adding Jason Gardner in some capacity, but could Jason Terry be leaving?

It has been a busy off-season for head coach Tommy Lloyd and Arizona Basketball as the Wildcats try to prepare for the upcoming season. Whether it is strengthening the current roster or staff, Arizona has been busy, and it seems like their next big addition is former Wildcat, Jason Gardner.

A standout point guard with the Cats from 2000-03, Jason had a brief career as a head coach with IUPUI before running into some off-court issues that led to him resigning.

Well, after a brief time away from the sport, Gardner is coming home, heading back to Tucson, officially joining the Arizona Basketball staff.

While the responsibilities for Gardner are still unknown at this point, Lloyd is living up to his end of the bargain in “bringing and maintaining an Arizona flare” with his program.

However, with more changes happening to the staff, perhaps Jason Gardner could see an even more increased role with Arizona Basketball.

As the news of Gardners’ return started to circulate and was confirmed by Arizona Daily Star’s Bruce Pascoe on Saturday afternoon, there are rumors now that current Wildcat assistant Jason Terry could be on the move as well.

With Jason Kidd set to become the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks, it appears Terry could be a legitimate candidate to join him on staff. After all, Terry was a star player with the Mavericks from 2004-12, even helping guide the Mavericks to the 2011 NBA Title.

Naturally, with Terry’s ties to the city and the organization, him potentially returning makes sense, although the timing for Arizona is nothing short of being unfortunate.

As for the Wildcats, seeing Gardner potentially return is exciting, even if it means Terry is moving on.
