With Arizona Basketball still making preparations for the 2021-22 season, the Wildcats may still be targeting more recruiting pieces, including Marquette transfer Dawson Garcia.

Tommy Lloyd and Arizona Basketball are staying busy this off-season as the Wildcats continue to make preparations for the upcoming season. Some of those preparations include finalizing the 2021-22 roster and continuing to possibly recruit some additional pieces, one of those pieces being Marquette transfer, Dawson Garcia.

A standout forward for the Golden Eagles this past season, the soon-to-be sophomore announced on Friday that he would be transferring from the school while exploring his options with the NBA Draft process. He also did not rule out the option of potentially returning.

So naturally with Dawson in the transfer portal, the Minnesota native has virtually every major Division One program calling him, including Arizona.

Coming into the season, Arizona Basketball should have a solid squad, however, that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t benefit from adding Dawson Garcia.

A former four-star recruit and Top 40 player in the class of 2020, Dawson has certainly lived up to the hype thus far, averaging 13.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in 27 starts with Marquette. The then true freshman ended the year shooting 48 percent from the field and 36 percent from three en route to earning Big East All-Freshman honors.

If he were to come to Arizona, there is no telling what he would be able to do. At 6-feet-11-inches, he would be a great compliment to Azuolas Tubelis and could possibly even see some post-work while being able to stretch the floor.

He is a talented kid with great length that allows him to contest shots and he is also a very capable rebounder. Dawson also has a solid offensive game that extends well beyond the three-point line.

However, Lloyd will have some work to do in this recruitment. While Arizona was considered among Dawson’s final schools when he initially committed to Marquette, Gonzaga and Lloyd did not offer him.

Here’s a look at what Dawson is able to do!
