With the 2021 MLB Draft moving into day two of action, it was a busy day for Arizona Baseball as several Wildcats hear their names called.

The 2021 Arizona Baseball season may not have ended the way many had hoped, nonetheless, it was still a productive year as the Wildcats returned to Omaha for the first time since 2016.

This past season the Wildcats were loaded with talent, so naturally, when it came time for the MLB Draft, Arizona Baseball would be a program heavily drafted.

Well, after an unproductive first round, day two of the draft provided plenty of action as four Wildcats heard their names called on Monday afternoon.

Starting with the big-time slugging outfielder, Ryan Holgate heard his name called in the Comp B round of the draft, going as the No. 70 overall pick to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Just 12 selections later, Branden Boissiere would be the next to go, being drafted in the third round by the Washington Nationals.

Then it was the crafty and underrated Donta Williams who was selected in the fourth round as the No. 106 overall selection by the Baltimore Orioles. Donta could be a big-time steal in the draft, as he will make for being a great leadoff man.

Last but not least, it was Gil Luna who was off the board. A native of Casa Grande, Gil was selected in the ninth round as the 275th overall pick by the Chicago White Sox, completing an eventful day two of the MLB Draft.

In total, four Wildcats heard their name called on Monday, and with day three action resuming tomorrow, expect for it to be yet another busy day for Arizona Baseball with players like Chase Silseth, Jacob Blas, Tony Bullard, etc. all remaining.

As for the Wildcats selected on Monday afternoon, we wish them well and can’t wait to continue to follow them in their careers.
