Rounding out their coaching staff for 2022, Arizona Baseball and Chip Hale have added South Carolina assistant Trip Couch to the staff.

Chip Hale has been the new skipper of Arizona Baseball for about a week now, and already the team, and more importantly, the staff is beginning to take form. So with Hale bringing back longtime Wildcat assistant Dave Lawn, he has made another key hire, this time adding South Carolina assistant, Trip Couch.

Breaking the news via social media, BigSpur.com writer John Whittle announced on Wednesday that Trip was officially hired by Hale and the Wildcats.

A longtime assistant in college baseball, Couch possesses plenty of experience as an assistant coach, having spent the last four seasons at South Carolina. He has also made stops with Houston, Louisiana, and Texas, even spending some time with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

With over 20 years of coaching experience, Trip Couch will be bringing a wealth of knowledge to Tucson and to Arizona Baseball.

Either way, coming in Arizona Baseball head coach Chip Hale had admitted that he wanted to add experienced coaches who have done this before since Hale actually has no experience coaching in college baseball.

In his introductory press conference, Hale said he wanted guys with strong recruiting ties and backgrounds, and as he adjusts to being a head coach at Arizona, he will have to rely on experienced guys like Lawn and Couch who have done this before.

So, while the Wildcats do have some talent returning for 2022, it appears they will likely be in store for a bit of a rebuild this year, and it will be interesting to follow to see how the Wildcats fill out this roster.
