With Arizona Women’s Basketball in the middle of a busy off-season, Lauren Ware will have a busy summer as well as she plays with the U19 USA team.

Following a tremendous run in 2020-21, the Arizona Women’s Basketball team will have a busy off-season as the Wildcats prepare for the upcoming year and look to maintain the high-level results. That is especially true for former five-star recruit and current post player Lauren Ware.

Originally considered an elite recruit in the class of 2020, while Ware may have seen limited action with the Cats last year averaging 3.9 points and 3.8 rebounds in roughly 16.1 minutes of action per game, her impact was still felt.

However, we expect Ware to see an increased role with the Wildcats in 2021-22, which is why this off-season is an important one for the former Century High School standout.

If there was anywhere Arizona Women’s Basketball could have used more skill and depth last year was in the post, and Lauren Ware will address that.

With the season still months away, it was announced that Ware will get an opportunity to play with Team USA at the U19 World Cup in Hungary starting August 7.

Make no mistake, just getting the opportunity is a big deal, and they don’t just invite anyone to the FIBA Tournament. However, the increased repetitions wouldn’t be a bad thing as she will spend that time with Team USA competing against some of the best in the World for her age.

Outside of Arizona needing to replace the play and production of Aari McDonald, if there were an area that the Wildcats could use increased depth and production is in the post.

To me, Ware has a lot of potential, and should she be able to make a sizeable jump upwards in terms of her development and production, the Wildcats could once again be a dangerous team in 2021-22, and it starts with the U19 Tournament.
