With Arizona Football in the midst of their busy off-season, the Wildcats did lose one recruit as former baseball coach Jay Johnson and LSU stole him away.

Jedd Fisch and Arizona Football have been on a terror this off-season recruiting at will and changing the perception of the program.

And just as the Wildcats were continuing to make progress in the recruitment for four-star Reno area athlete Robby Snelling, former Arizona Baseball coach Jay Johnson and LSU had other ideas.

Just weeks ago, we saw how Johnson left Arizona for greener pastures, creating a ripple effect in his wake as he didn’t necessarily leave on the best of terms.

Poaching both recruits and select players from Arizona, the line between being ethical and winning at all costs was crossed several times.

Well on Monday afternoon, the line was crossed once again as Jay Johnson successfully stole Robby Snelling from Arizona Football.

For those who don’t know, Robby is a two-sport star and a darn good one at that at McQueen High School in Reno, NV, and it was the belief that Robby would potentially be coming here to play both football and baseball. Or at least that was the belief when Johnson was still the coach of the baseball team.

However, that, unfortunately, will not be happening as Snelling will instead be heading to Baton Rouge to play baseball and presumably football with the Tigers.

Announcing his commitment via social media, Arizona once again endures a bit of bad luck.

Granted, Robby is free to choose whichever program he chooses, however, it seems as if LSU wasn’t on his radar until Johnson came to Baton Rouge just a couple of weeks ago, and to Arizona’s misfortune, the hiring of Johnson has bit hurt them once again, this time with Arizona Football.

With Johnson now at LSU, the transition to Baton Rouge surely has not gone over smoothly and many fans are deservedly upset. Whatever legacy Johnson had in Tucson is all but shattered at this point.
