Arizona Basketball offers 2023 wing Matas Buzelis
With Arizona Basketball coach Tommy Lloyd continuing to get acclimated to his new role, Arizona’s head coach has offered 2023 wing Matas Buzelis.
It has been a busy couple of months for Arizona Basketball head coach Tommy Lloyd as he continues to adjust to his new role with the Wildcats and builds relationships along with the recruiting trail. His latest move is offering 2023 wing Matas Buzelis.
Making news via social media, it was announced that Matas was offered by Arizona, and this is a great move by the Wildcats to get involved early in this recruitment.
Matas is a standout 6-foot-8 wing from the talented Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH, and already the athletic wing ranks No. 33 overall in the class of 2023 and is the No. 8 overall player for his position.
Arizona Wildcats
With offers from Kansas, Syracuse, Illinois, UCLA, and Wake Forest among others already, Matas is steadily climbing the ranks in the class of 2023, and when all is said and done, he will be a highly sought-after recruit.
However, in recruiting, relationships matter, and for Tommy Lloyd and Arizona Basketball, they hope to establish a strong relationship with Matas Buzelis.
In the world of college basketball, the challenge for any new coach like Lloyd is getting acclimated quickly. And since a lot of the players that Lloyd is now recruiting at Arizona, already have established relationships with the coaches at Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA, etc., it is like he is working from behind.
Perhaps luckily for us in the recruitment for Matas in particular, is that Matas originally hails from Lithuania, and Lloyd does particularly well in recruiting European players. Also, the Wildcats have done well recently in recruiting Europe as well with Azoulas Tubelis, Lauri Markkanen, Kerr Kriisa, etc. succeeding in Tucson.
Scouting Matas Buzelis:
Overall, Matas is a skilled and big wing with a versatile skill set. He possesses good handles and court vision. He excels at initiating the offense and can spot up and hit the jumper that extends well beyond the three-point line.
