With the official start of the 2021-22 Arizona Basketball season still months away, the Wildcats set the Red-Blue game for October 2.

Things are heating up in Tucson, and as we approach the month of August, that means we are getting closer and closer to the start of the 2021-22 Arizona Basketball season.

And with Tommy Lloyd fully entrenched in his new role as the head coach of the Wildcats, that means we will soon be getting our first look at Arizona Basketball in the post-Sean Miller era.

While some are not predicting Arizona to be super competitive, remember, this is a team that did return Ben Mathurin, Azuolas Tubelis, Dalen Terry, and Kerr Kriisa among others while also adding Utah transfer Pelle Larsson, Georgia graduate transfer Justin Kier, and Gonzaga transfer Oumar Ballo.

While Arizona may not be the elite team we are used to, ultimately, this is a group that should still be competitive and could surprise some people.

With the season still months away, we won’t get our first chance to see Arizona Basketball in action until October 2 in the annual Red-Blue game.

Making news on Thursday afternoon, the Red-Blue game date was officially set for Arizona, and it’ll be the first time since March 2020 that fans will likely get to see their Cats live in action. As we are all too aware by now, the 2019-20 season was canceled in March due to the Covid outbreak.

Coming into 2021, it will be interesting to see how what kind of style the Cats play. Lloyd will most likely lean on the play of Mathurin and Tubelis, since they are easily Arizona’s best returning players, and outside of that, there still are some questions at guard and in the post.

Should the Wildcats settle those things quickly, this could be a group that possibly contends in the Top 4 in the conference.

Arizona also added an exhibition game against Eastern New Mexico for November 1. Either way, basketball action is just around the corner, and we are excited.
