The landscape in College Athletics could soon be changing and as the Pac-12 weighs the idea of potentially expanding, Arizona Athletics could stand to benefit.
College Athletics may soon be on the verge of changing, and if you’ve been paying attention, you would have seen that Oklahoma and Texas could be on the verge of joining the SEC. So with the potential change in conference alignments, where does that leave Arizona Athletics?
As college athletics have always gone on, a lot seems to hinge on the bigger schools and the SEC. And with the recent announcement of Texas and Oklahoma potentially joining the SEC, the conference realignment could shake up the college athletics landscape significantly.

Already, there are talks of Kansas potentially joining the Big 10, and with their potential exit from the conference as well, it could leave the Big 12 scrambling.
So does that mean other teams could be joining the Big 12, or could the Pac-12, Big 10, and SEC be getting bigger?
If conference realignments were to indeed happen, an expanded Pac-12 Conference could greatly benefit Arizona Athletics.
Look, there’s no secret that Arizona Athletics and in particular the Pac-12 pales in comparison to the other power five conferences. From the conferences’ poor revenue share to the weak national exposure, the Pac-12 has been falling behind the other conferences.
Sure, part of that has been because of the mixed results in the large revenue-generating sports, however, perhaps this conference realignment could be a blessing in disguise.
Assuming the Pac-12 truly entertains the idea of expanding and gets past some of the logistical challenges in adding a Baylor and/or a Texas Tech, an expansion could stand to benefit Arizona Athletics and the rest of the conference.
Not only from an exposure standpoint (the Pac-12 now potentially being in Texas), but the conference would likely see significant increased revenue.
Overall, it seems like this could be a big win for the Pac-12, and I would hope new commissioner George Kliavkoff truly entertains the idea, because it could significantly help Arizona Athletics.
