Arizona Football: Jamarye Joiner won’t be ready for fall camp
With Arizona Football soon set to begin fall camp, the Wildcats will be expected to be without star wide receiver Jamarye Joiner for the start of it.
As Arizona Football officially kicks off the start of the 2021 season with the start of fall camp next week, unfortunately, as we learned yesterday at the Pac-12 Media Day, star wide receiver Jamarye Joiner won’t be available for the start of it.
Confirming the news in his Pac-12 press conference, head coach Jedd Fisch was asked whether Jamarye would be ready, which he confirmed he won’t be for the start of camp.

And after experiencing a rather fortuitous off-season in which the Wildcats saw solid recruiting wins, all while assembling a terrific coaching staff with extensive professional experience, it was bound to happen that the Wildcats would finally run into a bit of a snag.
A Native of Southern Arizona, as you may recall, Jamarye had battled back from the Jones Fracture last year as the Wildcats’ wide receiver had to have corrective surgery to repair the break in the foot.
While Jamarye did miss some time in the off-season last year, he did, however, come back just in time for the 2020 season, posting a stat line of 12 receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown in five games.
With Jamarye Joiner missing the start of fall camp, the hope is that he will be back for Arizona Football by the start of the season.
This is now the second surgery Joiner has had on his foot, and unfortunately for him, he sustained the injury while playing in the annual Spring Game.
While the injury is unfortunate, luckily for the Wildcats, Arizona does have some solid depth at wide receiver, and as he also confirmed in the press conference, Fisch said wide receiver Jaden Mitchell will be ready after battling back after suffering a torn ACL last year.
