Arizona Football commit TJ Hall flips pledge to Washington

Having seen a fair amount of success in recruiting, Arizona Football suffered their first setback as commit TJ Hall flipped his pledge to Washington.

It was bound to happen eventually, and after being successful on the recruiting for months, Arizona Football finally experienced their first setback as 2022 commitment TJ Hall flipped his pledge to Washington on Saturday afternoon.

A three-star recruit and athlete from San Joaquin Memorial High School, Hall initially committed to the Wildcats back on July 13.

Picking the Wildcats because of their pitch and intended use of the Fresno area athlete, unfortunately for us, that won’t be the case.

Just days after receiving an offer from Washington, it got him second-guessing, and finally, on Saturday afternoon, Hall decided to flip his pledge from Arizona to conference foe, Washington.

Becoming the first de-commitment for head coach Jedd Fisch, TJ Hall flipping his pledge is essentially the first major setback for Arizona Football.

Arizona Football has had a rather fortuitous couple of months in the world of recruiting, as the Wildcats have picked up 12 commitments and rank No. 46 overall and No. 6 in the Pac-12 for the class of 2022 so far. Arizona’s recruiting success has been a stark contrast from the poor recruiting the Wildcats have endured the previous 6-7 years prior.

However, as we continue to see, the Wildcats have a long way to go if they are going to compete against the top half of the conference, and even though Fisch has done well so far as head coach, we also are not impervious to being poached by bigger programs, case in point Hall flipping to Washington.

Recruiting is a tricky and challenging part of being a collegiate coach, and until recruits actually sign their letters of intent, nothing is guaranteed. And with Arizona recruiting at a higher level, expect some of the bigger programs in college football to try and poach the Wildcats. Here’s to hoping that Hall is the last one for 2021.
