Arizona Football unveils throwback uni’s, builds for the future
It is a new era of Arizona Football as the Wildcats unveil new uniforms that bring back longstanding traditions, all while ushering in a new future.
It is the day we Arizona Football fans have long been waiting for, the day we can officially kiss the era of the gradient sleeves and the childlike number fonts goodbye!
As head coach Jedd Fisch and Arizona Football kicked off the 2021 football season with an introduction to the team at the Wildcats’ media day, it was a day that provided a lot of excitement and anticipation ahead of the season.
Overshadowing the bustling excitement of the programs’ media day, was the unveiling of the teams’ new uniforms, which has been long overdue.
If you may recall, this was already hinted at when we covered that Athletic Director suggested the Wildcats would likely be returning to a more vintage look a few weeks.

Then last week at the Pac-12’s annual Media Day, coach Fisch seemed to hint that Arizona was going back to a more traditional and vintage look.
"“Yeah, I think I’m going to tell you the same thing I tell the recruits: Don’t worry about the uniforms. We got to play well. Hopefully, these uniforms will look good on them. I think everybody will be happy with the way they look. But I do believe in tradition. I do believe in basics. I believe in being able to wear the same helmet for every game.”"
Well, at the Arizona Football media day, it became official as the Wildcats unveiled a throwback look from the Desert Swarm era.
Donning the infamous blue jerseys with white numbers outlined in red and accentuated by a single red and white stripe on the shoulders, it is an updated look from the Wildcats’ uniforms from the early-to-mid 90s.
As you may recall, it is also the exact same look the Wildcats wore on homecoming when they faced Oregon State back on November 2, 2019.
However, adding to their look, the Wildcats also broke out their new white jerseys, which are even better than the blue ones in my opinion.
Starting with a blue collar, the color contrast pops nicely, giving it a clean look. Then you have the blue numbers outlined in red, with the shoulders adorning a single blue and red stripe.
The helmets are back to that vintage look as well, with a single red and blue stripe along with a navy blue facemask. And the pants are solid blue and white with a cursive Cats logo on the hip.
Overall, these get a solid A+ from me and many fans it seems. Arizona did a fantastic job in bringing back the traditional look, all while incorporating it with a modern update. These are a thing of beauty!
