The 2021-22 Arizona Athletics seasons are just around the corner, and with so many questions regarding Covid, the Wildcats will adhere to campus guidelines.

Last year was a whirlwind for many, and in particular, Arizona Athletics as the Wildcats dealt with the impact of Covid. Seasons and games were either postponed or canceled, and fans were unable to attend games until much later in the year, at least at Arizona.

Well, heading into 2021-22, millions of people have already been vaccinated, and it seems we know more about Covid now than we did a year ago. However, there are still lingering questions regarding how the seasons are going to be played out, especially as fans are itching to attend games and get back to a sense of normalcy.

For the past few months, Arizona has already been operating as if things are normal. Fans have been able to watch the Wildcats practice in football, soccer is beginning again, so the action is heating up. The only question many people have at this point is, how will Arizona Athletics handle fan attendance?

On Wednesday, Arizona Athletic Director Dave Heeke announced that Arizona Athletics will adhere to the campus’ guidelines regarding Covid.

As of right now, there are no capacity limits at the upcoming games, and fans will have to abide by current campus guidelines which would require face coverings for all indoor spaces where it is not possible to adequately and continuously maintain social distance. Outdoor events however wouldn’t quite have the same restrictions.

As for vaccinations, the school is following the states’ current mandates, as fans, students, or employees are not required to be vaccinated.

Now, understand that these policies are subject to change too, especially as local case numbers change or fluctuate. And with Arizona Football’s first game being September 4 in Las Vegas against BYU, fans and teams in attendance are not required to be vaccinated at this point.

Either way, we will just have to see how things go, and with Arizona Athletics coming off a year in which they experienced a $26 million deficit, they need all the fans they can safely have.
